2008 BMW M6 Safety

Head Protection System (HPS)

BMW's Head Protection System is an inflatable tubular structure to protect the heads of a vehicle's front and rear seat occupants. Operating in conjunction with the side airbags, the system provides front seat occupants with outstanding protection in the case of severe side impact. It helps protect the head from hitting the side window and being hit by objects penetrating the side window.

Park Distance Control, front and rear

Park Distance Control uses eight sensors - four in the front, four in the rear - to measure exactly how far you are from other vehicles and unseen objects when parking. As your bumper approaches a stationary object, the image on the iDrive screen changes and beeping becomes faster, turning into a constant tone when the distance is less than 12 inches.

Dynamic Stability Control

Using built-in sensors to continually monitor multiple variables - such as speed, steering angle, brake pressure and traction - the Dynamic Stability Control system can detect and, more importantly, help correct the loss of wheel traction immediately. All of which helps to keep you in control, no matter what the circumstances.

2008 M6 Engine

This compact, high-revving, V-10 power engine gives the M6 enormous thrust and muscle. At 5.0 liters of displacement and 500 horsepower, the V-10 produces 100 horsepower per liter - that is remarkable. And its power-to-weight ratio of one horsepower per each eight pounds is a figure more representative of a racecar than one you'd have in your driveway.

2008 BMW M6 Interior

Interior Seating

The M6 is equipped with M Sport Seats. The M sport seats are more pronounced side bolsters designed to provide excellent lateral support during high performance driving. Also includes manual thigh support adjustment, three-stage heating and four-way lumbar support.

Logic7 Audio System

Unlike traditional stereo systems, Logic7 routes two-channel sound through a seven-channel playback matrix to create 360-degree Surround Sound. The anti-theft AM/FM stereo CD/MP3 player audio system includes 13 upgraded speakers (including 2 subwoofers), Digital Sound Processing (DSP), Radio Data System (RDS), Auto-Store and 3-channel FM diversity antenna, and it displays MP3 song title and artist.

Head-Up Display

The Head-Up Display gives you the ability to see relevant information such as speed and navigation directions, without the need to look down and lose sight of what's ahead of you. The readout appears just beyond the windshield, in your line of vision. It is clear, easy to read, and even responds to light, adjusting its brightness for daytime, nighttime or hazy conditions, so driving is more enjoyable.

BMW M5 Touring

Exterior Design

Power that builds up from within: the sporting proportions of the BMW M5 Touring result from its ability to perform. The V10 high-rev engine breathes in freely through air vents at the front and side and out through four chrome-plated stainless steel exhaust pipes. Flaps on the bumpers and rear diffuser help to transfer the tremendous power of the engine reliably to the road. The BMW M5 Touring keeps the promises that its shape makes.

Interior Design

The versatile character of the BMW M5 Touring is also reflected in its interior, with the typical M-style details creating a fascinating atmosphere. The signature layout of the instrument panel, subtly enhanced by illuminated, white scale rings and red needles, and the exclusive luxury of Merino leather upholstery. M seats for perfect support and the M steering wheel with gear-change keys provide sports-style ergonomics.

The BMW M5 Sedan has Phenomenal qualities with 507 hp from 5 litres of displacement. Press the accelerator gently and the V10 high-rev engine responds with instant power. It takes just 4.7 seconds for the BMW M5 Sedan to go from 0 to 100 km/h, and just ten seconds more to reach 200 km/h - a total of 14.7 seconds is all the M5 Sedan needs to set a new standard in engine performance.

M Drivelogic sequential gearbox

For people who like to drive Formula One-style. The BMW M5 Sedan's 7-speed SMG Drivelogic system features gear-change keys on the steering wheel and a selection lever on the central console. Gears change within milliseconds, without having to reduce speed, decrease engine power or use a clutch. Special functions such as slip recognition or hill recognition adapt to the gear shift points required by the given driving conditions. Maximum acceleration comes courtesy of Launch Control: it ensures that speed is maintained across the entire range of gear changes.
